As you have seen on television and internet commercial advertisements there are a high number of so called educational institutions that will teach you online and hand you over a degree in a short period of time. Why such a drastic increase for these online degrees? Well, for one it gives people the opportunity to obtain a quick degree that will allow them to be perceived as a legitimate professional even though they never spent the time educating themselves the right way.

These online degrees are known as “diploma mills” which are bogus universities that confer degrees for little or no study. The use of diploma mills is exploding as the Internet makes bogus degrees easier to get than ever before. More workers are buying these degrees because they're looking for an edge in the competitive job market. Many online degrees are not accredited. It's hard to determine whether a degree earned long distance is actually legitimate. In addition, many diploma mills adopt names that are similar to bona fide universities or colleges.

Those involved with this so called church planting movement obtain online theological or divinity degree’s that make them appear as real pastors to church members. Many people have blinders on when referring to the word degree or diploma and instantly look at that person as being legitimate even though they obtained their credentials falsely.
